Email from new member (July 2009):
Thanks for all the information, I'm more grateful for the help of HVA than I can express.
To all involved at HVA, (May 19th 2009)
I just got back from the doctors. It looks like I probably have herpes. She didn't explain to me what it was, I was so scared, as I thought I had thrush for the past while. . . Never thought it could be an STD.
Long story short, in that short space of time my life ended. When I got home I read the worst sites I could have possibly come across. . . You know the ones to scare people with making it sound like the Apocalypse? I was in such a state. Then I found your site. The massive crippling weight left me - I kicked it on its way out :) I feel quite educated on the subject now, and feel (I mean, I KNOW) that my life hasn't in fact ended.
Thank you all so so so much for making this incredible site, I really am thankful it was there for me to find. Emma
Hello, (May 6th 2009)
Let me say first of all what an excellent, factual and informative site you have created. I intend to become a member, I am so impressed. I am a Brit living in USA. I have genital herpes and am OK about it. I seem to have a milder strain that only comes into play when I am really, really stressed (which I tend to try to avoid, hence my limited outbreaks.. only two in the two years I have been diagnosed).
For the first time since my diagnosis, I am moving towards a sexual relationship with a man. He knows about my herpes, is OK about it and is informed. ... Thank you so much!
Spring 2009:
I want to give a TREMENDOUS THANK YOU for your website. I self-diagnosed myself and yesterday got it confirmed by the clinic. I was online looking for help and your website was the only to calm me down and give me facts without scare stories, myths or the stuff that I found on a lot of other herpes websites.
It is amazing that I didn’t learn any of this at school. I am in my twenties and have a long-term partner, and I'm feeling really bad about this. I was totally ignorant about this virus. It is something which needs to be taught better in schools, and would be interested to know how I could help with your battle to get rid of the stigma attached to this virus. Cassie

I have feel I have been well supported by 'You'. My questions have also been answered quickly and I have been reassured +++ Don't know how I would have coped when first diagnosed without your support. THANK YOU, Louey
