Membership benefits
Thousands of people have benefited from HVA membership over the years since the charity began in 1981. You subscribe on line here.
How being a member can help you:
- Receive five quarterly magazines with up-dates on the latest developments in treatment and research, self-help tips, contact advertisements from other members and personal stories - find out how other people have dealt with herpes simplex and moved on. Get the magazine by post (in plain paper envelopes for discretion) or by an email link.
- Special questions? Choose 3 from our range of leaflets. Add an extra donation if you want more than 3.
- If you would like it, we will try and find you a ‘local contact’ - another member nearby for you to chat to on the phone or meet up with. You will be able to share experiences and learn from each other.
- You will be sent the full ‘Dates & Mates' contact list so you can write to/email/text or phone any members who have sent in 'adverts' for this list - people seeking romance or just a pen-pal. Many of our members have formed relationships or married after meeting through this service. (Herpes simplex is so common so you don’t have to limit yourself to relationships with other members, but some people find it makes things easier to start with.) As a member, you too can post an 'advert'.
- You will be sent regular details of all our membership activities - pub socials, workshops, to help you ‘get your head around it’, parties and talks from experts.
- Phone the office for advice - no more waiting for the next helpline session.
- Know that your fee is helping to support us, so that we can continue to 'be there' for people who need us...
